01 / OVERVIEW
So, what do you do with
a blank canvas?
When I first joined the TaBS Rest team, it had absolutely nothing to show in the design department: no logo, no design system, no website, no components...you get the drift.
This was the first time I had been completely handed the reins in shaping a company’s identity.
Using this creative freedom, I spent the next 8 months establishing strong design foundations for TaBS Rest and its mobile platform, YCLT.
02 / THE PRODUCT
Two sides of the same training relationship.

02 / LOGOS & IDENTITY
Every brand needs a
visual nametag
One of my first tasks after joining the team was to develop the logos that would be used throughout the company’s digital presence. After multiple iterations of brainstorming, the startup and application logos came into being.
I independently designed each one on Adobe Illustrator, including variations and lockups. These logos, along with guidelines for brand tone and visual direction, gave the app its distinct personality.

03 / DESIGN SYSTEM
Foundations that keep every touchpoint in sync.
To establish a cohesive visual identity across YCLT, I worked with my co-designer to develop the platform's colour palette and typography system. I also adapted iconography from Untitled UI's Figma kit to complement the brand’s slightly rounded visual language. Together, these elements capture the casual yet energetic image that YCLT reflects in its digital experiences.
With this unified design system, we ensure consistency across the website and mobile applications, streamline design decisions, and build a scalable framework to support the startup's future growth.
05 / WEBSITE
From blank canvas to a live digital home.
Working solo, I developed TaBS Rest’s website from scratch using Webflow, including:
visual layout design
information architecture & hierarchy
copywriting
code implementation
custom illustrations & animations
transitions & motion graphics
multi-device responsiveness
The result: a fully launched website that established TaBS Rest’s online presence and communicated its value to prospective users.
“I personally visited your website and I actually felt, now this is something that someone has done right.”
― Independent Auditor, hired by YCLT
06 / CLIENT APP
Taking the guesswork out of training interactions
As my last project, I took charge of YCLT’s client-side UI experience. I built an interactive prototype on Figma with 25+ high-fidelity screens (~40 including overlays), with micro-interactions, animations, and conditional states.

By the end of my internship, I helped TaBS Rest/YCLT:
grow a community following of 150+ people
exhibit at the 2026 WebSummit Vancouver as an upcoming alpha start-up (25% acceptance rate)
amass 50+ waitlist sign-ups for YCLT’s beta launch
“I don’t know what we would’ve done without you.”
― David, the boss & CPO
Personal achievements: Received an ‘Outstanding’ evaluation on my end-of-term assessment, nominated for Co-op Student of the Year
07 / LOOKING BACK
Some designers join a story; I got to write the first page.
